A group of six climate activists were arrested on Sunday after they stormed a golf course during the Travelers Championship in Connecticut, throwing and carrying red and white smoke bombs.

Following the incident, the climate group, “Extinction Rebellion”, issued a press release, where they defended their disruption.

“Golf has its environmental problems, but we can’t even have that discussion until we acknowledge the fundamental realities. We are all watching the climate catastrophe unfold at warp speed. Our relatively mild disruption of the Travelers Championship calls attention to nature’s much more severe and long-lasting disruptions,” said Miles Grant, a spokesman for Extinction Rebellion.

Many of the protesters wore shirts that read “No golf on a dead planet,” in an attempt to call attention to climate change and the alleged increase in global temperature and natural disasters, something that is already frequently discussed by media outlets and politicians across the globe.

“Climate catastrophe threatens everything we love on this planet, including golf. Many tournaments have been canceled due to inclement weather. Golf, more than other events, is heavily reliant on good weather. Golf fans should therefore understand better than most the need for strong, immediate climate action,” said Extinction Rebellion in its press release.

The group highlighted a lightning strike at the tournament on Saturday, injuring some attendees, as a evidence of the dangers of climate change, and defended their disruption by stating that it was less disruptive than the electrical storm.

The group claims that its golf protest and other similar actions are its last resort, after the failure of voting or protest marches to produce their desired results.

It is unclear why they believe that, given the widespread discussion of climate change across Western media and their failure to produce change through conventional means, running across golf courses with smoke bombs will increase the chances of getting additional climate change laws passed.

In addition to blaming a lightning strike on climate change, the group used its press release to claim that the global temperature will exceed “internationally agreed targets” by the end of the century.

Extinction Rebellion attempted to convince people to change their opinion on the climate because some climate scientists have become depressed after their warnings were ignored.

“Many scientists also say that climate breakdown has plunged them into a state of despair, as have the long years of having their predictions ignored,” said Extinction Rebellion.

The climate activists criticized mainstream pushes for renewable energy and electric cars, both of which have been prioritized in Maine under Gov. Janet Mills, as completely insufficient to stop catastrophic climate change.

In their list of demands, Extinction Rebellion activists claimed that there can be no real discussion of solutions until there is an agreed upon set of “facts,” and that the discussion cannot be had unless institutions prioritize “the most vulnerable among us.”

It is unclear who constitutes the “most vulnerable,” according to the group.

Extinction Rebellion did not demand that any specific actions be taken to combat climate change, but did demand that “citizen assemblies” be held featuring randomly selected people who will be lectured on climate change before determining what needs to happen to fix the climate.

The golf tournament protest came shortly after climate activists from Just Stop Oil drew international ire for vandalizing Stonehenge with orange paint.

Top-ranked PGA tour golfer Scottie Scheffler finished 22 under par to win the championship and $3.6 million in prize winnings.

The punishment for this and for Incidents like blocking traffic and interrupting people’s lives needs to be harsh and severe otherwise we will face a regularity of damage to artwork and historical preservations that has and continues to happen in Europe. These people will only get bolder unless they are strongly deterred. Nothing is sacred to these people.

Unfortunately the climate change crazies love this kind of destruction. It draws attention to their hoax. The courts, special interest officials and a misleading media will go easy on them which only encourages others to join this destructive and hateful cult.

Without accountability BS like this will only spread.
