The United Kingdom has announced a new emergency ban on puberty blockers for minors, a decision that follows less strict restrictions imposed in March.
The new emergency restrictions build upon the March restrictions, in which Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) stopped routinely prescribing puberty blockers to minors with gender dysphoria.
The new restrictions, which will be in effect from June 3 to September 3, will completely bar any private prescribers from issuing puberty blockers to new patients in Britain, Scotland, and Wales.
“The move follows a similar ban by the NHS earlier in the year, as recommended by the landmark Cass Review. HUGE WIN! This is what actual progress looks like. Congratulations to our friends across the pond. We eagerly await for the United States to follow suit,” said X user Gays Against Groomers.
The announcement also reaffirms the NHS’ indefinite restriction on prescribing the puberty blockers within its nationalized healthcare system.
Like the previous restrictions, these will allow children already on puberty blockers to continue the treatments, although, according to the BBC, only 100 U.K. children are currently taking puberty blockers.
That is far less than the 5,000 children who were receiving the drugs in the U.S. in 2021, according to a Reuters report.
The drugs will continue to be available for purposes other than sex changes.
The restrictions come in response to the Cass Review into gender identity services, which revealed the serious and irreversible harm inflicted on children who are given puberty blockers, including problems with bone development.
As other countries including the U.K., Sweden, Norway, and France have moved away from drug and surgical interventions for minors diagnosed with gender dysphoria, the U.S. continues to expand access to sex change procedures for minors, although many Republican-led states have moved for harsher restrictions.

Currently, Maine continues to have extremely permissive laws regarding the provision of sex-change drugs and surgeries.
Under a new law in Maine 16-17 year old minors can acquire puberty blockers and hormone therapy without parental consent.
Maine also adopted this year a law allowing out-of-state adults to bring minors into Maine for transgender procedures without parental consent.

In the U.S. we will double down and not care what research states. Democrats rule will feelings over facts.
