Previously Deported Dominican National Reentered US to ‘peddle poison,’ Arrested for Carjacking, Drug Trafficking: ICE

A Dominican national who earlier this year was deported after being convicted of dealing fentanyl was arrested by federal immigration authorities in August following his illegal reentry into the U.S. and arraignment on charges of carjacking, assault and drug trafficking.

U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in a Tuesday press release that they arrested 33-year-old Dominican national Luis Esmeraldo Rodriguez in Roxbury, Mass., on Aug. 12.

The ICE arrest came after Rodriguez was arraigned in Roxbury District Court on June 10 on charges of assault and battery of a household member, destruction of property, indecent exposure, carjacking, two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Following his arrest by deportation officers with ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston, Rodriguez was served with a notice of intent to reinstate a prior removal order.

On Sept. 16, the Dominican illegal alien was arraigned in federal court on a charge of unlawful reentry into the United States after removal.

“Not only has Luis Esmeraldo Rodriguez has displayed a complete disregard for U.S. immigration laws — he also attempted to use our Massachusetts neighborhoods to peddle poison to our residents,” said ERO Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia Hyde.

“Now he has been charged with some much more severe offenses and clearly poses a threat to our community,” Hyde said. “ERO Boston will continue to prioritize the safety of our public by aggressively apprehending and removing egregious noncitizen offenders from New England.”

According to ICE, Rodriguez first entered the U.S. illegally near Laredo, Texas, on Nov. 23, 2014.

In early 2015, Rodriguez was served a notice to appear before an immigration court, and was granted an immigration bond in February 2015.

On May 12, 2015, a Department of Justice immigration judge in Batavia, N.Y., ordered Rodriguez removed from the U.S. to the Dominican Republic.

However, Rodriguez was not deported until Feb. 18, 2024, after he completed a nearly three-year federal prison sentence for possessing and distributing fentanyl in Massachusetts.

At some point after his removal in February 2024 and before his arrest in June, Rodriguez reentered the U.S. at an unknown location without being inspected by immigration officials — what is commonly referred to as a “gotaway.”

Also, Chellie Pingree (aka Rochelle Johnson from Minnesota), wants illegals in Maine because of Maine’s aging population….as long as Catholic Charities does not bring them to North Haven Island.
