A 19-year-old from Auburn who allegedly caused three car crashes in a single night this September while under the influence is in custody again — this time for alleged drug trafficking and other additional charges.

Jimmy Kasongo Kikuni, 19, of Auburn, was arrested just after midnight on Oct. 1 after he allegedly led Lewiston Police and Androscoggin County deputies on a chase for his reported involvement in three hit-and-run car crashes.

Lewiston Police Chief Derrick St. Laurent told NEWS CENTER Maine in October that at about 11:10 p.m. on Sept. 30, they responded to a report of a head-on crash at the intersection of Park Street and Birch Street.

One of the cars, described as a silver Hyundai four-door, fled the scene of that crash.

Approximately 15 minutes later, Androscoggin County deputies responded to a report that a car matching the description from the Lewiston crash had gone off of the road and hit a telephone pole on Route 202 in Greene.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies saw the car nearly hit two pedestrians before fleeing from law enforcement, St. Laurent said.

The deputies pursued the car back into Lewiston, where it pulled into a residence on Main Street.

The driver then crashed the car into the woods behind the building, the Lewiston Police Chief said. The driver took off into the woods, and was apprehended by police just after midnight.

At the time of his arrest for his alleged involvement in the three Sept. 30 crashes, Kikuni also had three active warrants out for his arrest.

He was charged with multiple counts of violating conditions of release, operating under the influence (alcohol), operating while license suspended or revoked (OUI), and driving to endanger.

Booking records at the Somerset County Jail indicate that Kikuni was arrested again by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Kikuni now faces additional charges of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, eluding an officer, operating while license suspended or revoked (OUI), failure to stop (personal injury) and violating condition of release, the records show.

His bail was set at $10,000 cash, and he remains in custody as of Dec. 11, 2024.

Kikuni, then just 18 years old, was arrested in January of this year on charges of domestic violence assault, obstructing report of crime and violating conditions of release.

He was arrested again on July 1 for violating a condition of release.

Booking records at the Somerset County Jail indicate that Kikuni is a U.S. Citizen.

We need capital punishment for the habitual offenders . People like this can’t be rehabilitated and fixed . Execute them and remove them from our tax burden . We will be better off without them ! Freedom !
