Rockland police arrested a transient woman early Tuesday morning following a vehicle pursuit and the discovery of narcotics during a traffic stop in Thomaston.

Just after midnight on July 14, officers stopped a vehicle for defective equipment. During the stop, police identified multiple traffic violations, including the operator driving with a suspended license.

Officers observed and recovered a baggie containing narcotics from the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Jamie Nickerson, a transient.

Nickerson reportedly refused commands to exit the vehicle and fled from officers at high speed. During the chase, she drove through a closed gate at a recycling center just over the town line in Thomaston, police said.

One passenger was detained at the scene, while Nickerson and another passenger fled on foot. A canine track located clothing discarded by Nickerson but failed to find the suspects at the time.

Shortly before 5 a.m., police located and arrested Nickerson. She faces charges of felony eluding, possession of fentanyl, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, criminal mischief, and several motor vehicle violations.

Nickerson was released from Knox County Jail by the bail commissioner on unsecured bail within hours of her arrest.

The passenger who fled was identified and found to be out on multiple sets of bail conditions. Authorities plan to request a bail revocation and warrant for that individual, whose identity was not released.
