Judge Allows US Naval Academy To Use Race In Admissions

A judge on Friday ruled that the U.S. Naval Academy is allowed to continue to use race as a factor in its admissions process.

U.S. District Judge Richard Bennettย determinedย that the Naval Academy does not fall afoul of the Supreme Courtโ€™s June 2023 ruling to strike down affirmative action in college admissions because the Naval Academy is not a civilian university, but instead a part of the military and generally under the purview of the executive branch. Bennett opined that โ€œmilitary and civilian leaders have determined that a racially diverse officer corps is a national security interestโ€ in his ruling.

Students for Fair Admissions, the anti-affirmative action group that filed the suit which resulted in the Supreme Courtโ€™s landmark June 2023 ruling, brought the case against the Naval Academy in a bid to expand the reach of that major decision, according to The Wall Street Journal. Edward Blum, the leader of Students for Fair Admissions, said that he is disappointed in the ruling and that he intends to appeal it. (RELATED: UCLAโ€™s Blueprint To Increase Diversity And Sidestep SCOTUS Ruling Could Make It โ€˜Prime Targetโ€™ For Trump DOJ)

USNA Ruling by Nick Pope

โ€œAfter an intense one-year period of discovery and a nine-day bench trial, this Court has found that the Academyโ€™s admissions program withstands the strict scrutiny mandated by the Harvard case,โ€ Bennett wrote. โ€œThe Naval Academy has established a compelling national security interest in a diverse officer corps in the Navy and Marine Corps. Furthermore, that interest is indeed measurable, and the Academyโ€™s admissions program is narrowly tailored to meet that interest. In short, this Court defers to the executive branch with respect to military personnel decisions.โ€

The Naval Academy is reviewing the courtโ€™s decision, a spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. Notably, the Naval Academy argued in filings pursuant to the case that using race as a factor in assessing candidates results in a stronger, more cohesive and respected fighting force, according to the WSJ.

Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trumpโ€™s choice to helm the Pentagon for his second term, has repeatedly stated that he plans to reform the U.S. military and its component parts to abandon โ€œwokenessโ€ in the armed forces and return the militaryโ€™s focus to lethality and efficacy in combat. Hegsethโ€™s nomination has proven to be one of the mostย contentiousย in the wake of Trumpโ€™s victory on Nov. 5, as Hegseth has faced a slew of allegations about hisย sexualย and personal conduct amplified by the legacy media.

And just why is the Maine Wire including this extra paragraph at the end that dumps unproven derogatory accusations again President Trump’s selection of Pete Hegseth? Is the Maine Wire now going to climb down into the slime hole into which the rest of the Maine press has been dragged by their sale to George Soros?

Judges are lawyers
Lawyers are a scourge and a pox on our society
We can no longer expect to live under the rule of law-yers
It is altogether too oppressive

You know where else they used race to fill positions? Plantations. Richard Bennett is doing all he can to fill the military with disposable monitories just like the old south did on plantations. He is a racist at the highest level and must be removed for the crime of genocide. If youโ€™re going to send a generation overseas to be used as cannon fodder you must do equally.

I’d like to know what the racial distribution of (1) accepted midshipmen and (2) graduating midshipmen on a class by class basis over the last decade is. Can someone come up with that information amongst the Maine Wire staff or readers? I’d like the same info for all major service academies.

There are about 4500 cadets at Annapolis. Thirteen percent of the USA are Black, so let’s make sure there are 585 black students at Annapolis and NO more, IF we are going to abide by racial quotas!

Why not make admissions based on ethnicity? The US has been run by just a few ethnic groups since its founding. People from those groups ran the states and towns for generations.

If you have the physical and academic scores to qualify for admission then race should not be considered. Otherwise, it is just more DEI that jeopardizes the rest of the fleet.
