As America’s Youngest Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt of NH Holds First White House Briefing

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt of New Hampshire held the Trump Administration’s first official press briefing Tuesday afternoon.

At just 27 years old, Leavitt is now the youngest White House Press Secretary in United States history.

Leavitt studied communications and political science at Saint Anselm College, a Catholic institution in her home state of New Hampshire, where she was regularly involved with the New Hampshire Institute of Politics.

While a student, Leavitt interned at Fox News during the 2016 election cycle. After graduating, she began working for President Donald Trump (R) under former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

After leaving the White House, Leavitt worked as the Director of Communications for Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), who President Trump has now tapped to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Leavitt ran for the United States House of Representatives in 2022, seeking to represent New Hampshire’s First Congressional District in Washington, D.C.

Although she was unsuccessful in the general election, Leavitt made a strong showing, earning 45.9 percent of the vote against incumbent Rep. Chris Pappas (D), coming just over 25,000 votes short of winning the seat.

Leavitt also briefly filled in as a host of the Grace Curley Show in 2023.

She then rejoined Trump’s team as his campaign’s spokesperson during the 2024 presidential election. Most recently, Leavitt served as the spokesperson for the Trump-Vance transition team.

“Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator,” Trump said in a November statement publicly tapping Leavitt press secretary. “I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again.”

During Wednesday’s packed White House press briefing — which lasted about 45 minutes in total — Leavitt addressed a number of key issues, including the president’s 300-plus executive orders, the on-going deportation efforts, the halting of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs, and the Administration’s decision to pause all federal grants and loans.

Karoline Leavitt responds:

"It means no more funding for illegal DEI programs. It means no more funding for the Green New Scam… It means no more funding for transgenderism and wokeness across our federal bureaucracy and agencies." https://t.co/4QBerlSlny pic.twitter.com/Z1eJlEEk48

Leavitt also delivered a message from the president, explaining that the heightened drone presence in New Jersey recently was not the result of unauthorized or enemy technology.

When asked about the increased cost of eggs, Leavitt strongly pushed back on attempts to pin rising prices on the Trump Administration.

Citing survey research from Gallup Research, Leavitt stated that Americans’ trust in the media is at an all time low. Due in part to this, Leavitt explained that White House Press Briefings will no longer be restricted to legacy media outlets, encouraging independent journalists and content creators to apply for official credentials.

She also pledged to work to restore the credentials of 440 reporters she said were wrongly revoked by the Biden administration.

The previous White House spokesperson , Karin John Pierre , or what ever her name was , showed us everything we’d ever need to know about the non value of DEI .
She was never particularly intelligent , she was seldom prepared to answer even a simple question without looking into her note book to read what someone else wanted her to say .
She was an obvious liar when questioned about Biden’s senility and fitness for office . Her physical appearance was disturbing . She was a joke . There was NOTHING good about her .
The metallic copper eyelids were just plain scary .
The ONLY reason she got put into her position was because she was black , and because she was a lesbian . She was a total incompetent . She was a perfect example of why DEI sucks . She was a incompetent puppet of an incompetent puppet . Adios !

Karoline Leavitt is THE EXACT OPPOSITE of the last White House spokesperson .
I am so glad that Biden and Harris are now gone and that Donald J Trump is our president .
Some of my hope has been restored in the future of our country .
Make America Great Again !

I get SO sick and tired of this crap. The 1st Female, the 1st Black, the 1st LGBTQ+WTFE, oldest/youngest… Once used as a milestone to remember, that, like the accusation of racist, has been so overused as to be meaningless. Just another version of DEI crap DJT is working to dump. YUP, she done a good job, even a great job, doesn’t matter if she is 27 or 72.
