Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men driving an allegedly stolen vehicle on Friday, following a high-speed car chase, crash, and a search through the woods with a K9 unit.

During routine traffic enforcement on Roosevelt Trail in Casco, deputies noticed a blue Mazda 3 apparently being operated by someone under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Officers tried to pull the Mazda over, but the driver, later identified as 19-year-old Abdiaziz Ibrahim of Portland, continued traveling at 55 mph in a 45 mph zone.

The Mazda then turned onto Brown Ave. in Casco in an apparent attempt to evade the police and continued driving onto Quaker Ridge Rd., speeding past 90 mph.

The deputies called off the pursuit, but seconds later, law enforcement discovered the vehicle had crashed and found that Ibrahim, along with passenger 21-year-old Rodrigue Mucyo of Westbrook, had allegedly fled into the woods on foot.

Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived to assist in the pursuit, along with a K9 unit from the Cumberland Sheriff’s Department.

The dogs discovered both suspects, along with a firearm that had been reported stolen from Saco.

Further investigation revealed that the Mazda 3 had also been reported stolen from South Portland.

The two suspects were transported to the Cumberland County Jail.

The driver, Ibrahim, faces a long list of charges, including refusing to submit to arrest, eluding police, reckless conduct, driving to endanger, criminal speeding, operating without a license, receiving stolen goods, probation violation, and OUI refusal.

Mucyo faces charges of receiving stolen property, probation violation, and has two active warrants for his arrest.

Law enforcement did not include any details on Mucyo’s outstanding warrants, nor did they include any information on either suspect’s immigration status.

The Maine Wire reached out for more information on the suspects’ immigration status, but the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately respond with the information.

They probably thought police wouldn’t be able to identify them because they didn’t have ID. You know, because the democrats have been saying forever that they’re too slow to figure out how to get one. Democrats are plantation raciest.

Hmm, another Portland man, along with a Westbrook man, of course no information on their imagration status, just happened to be from Portland, steal a car in south Portland, crash that car in casco, yup must be Cumberland county, c’mon man

Immigration status is a secret. Like giving out that information could impact the investigation. We all know that these “Dreamers” are actually a nightmare. Let’s start forcing towns and cities to run them out of our family neighborhoods.

Fire arm from Saco. But these are not the Saco shotters from a year ago, they are still on the lamb.
These boys most likely had sneakers on, not boots on in the snow. Not Locals.

It’s not a surprise that they wrecked the car . Have you driven around Portland lately? It’s a destruction derby. I know first hand. Don’t they have to take a driving test to get a license? Oh and I’m not a robot but I wanted to be.
