Trump Proclaims Gulf of America Day En-Route to the Superbowl

President Donald Trump proclaimed the first ever Gulf of America Day from Air Force One on Sunday while en route to Super Bowl LIX and flying over the body of water known until recently as the Gulf of Mexico.

“As my Administration restores American pride in the history of American greatness, it is fitting and appropriate for our great Nation to come together and commemorate this momentous occasion and the renaming of the Gulf of America,” said President Trump in his proclamation.

The proclamation marked the president’s first flyover of the Gulf since signing an executive order to rename the body of water on his first day in office, as part of an initiative to celebrate American greatness.

Trump signed the proclamation in front of a group of press traveling with him on Air Force One, claiming that the new holiday is bigger than the Super Bowl.

“We thought this would be appropriate, even bigger than the Super Bowl, this is a big thing, and almost everybody now has assented to that,” said Trump.

The proclamation calls on public officials and the American people to celebrate the day with “appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.”

Trump’s order renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America also restored the name of Mount McKinley, in honor of the 25th President of the U.S., William McKinley.

The Alaskan mountain, the highest mountain in North America, was officially named Mt. McKinley in 1917, but in the 1970s, Alaska requested that the name be changed to Mt. Denali to reflect the name given to it by a group of Alaskan natives.

Though that request yielded no fruit for decades, until President Barack Obama officially changed the name to Denali in 2015.

If the democrats can rename Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples Day …..then Donald Trump can rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

Too bad the ass doesn’t have something better to do than play children’s games with historical, geographic names.
