Democratic Texas Rep. Al Green was kicked out of the chamber Tuesday evening after disrupting President Donald Trump’s speech.
Trump began his joint address to Congressional members discussing his election win, stating how he had won both the popular vote and Electoral College. However, just minutes into the president’s speech, Green could be seen standing and yelling at the president, prompting Republican lawmakers to push back against the Democrat lawmaker’s protest, as they could be heard chanting “USA! USA!”
“And won counties in our country 2,700 to 525 on a map that reads almost completely red for Republican,” Trump continued as he could be seen motioning for Green to be removed.
“Now for the first time in modern history, more Americans believe that our country is headed in the right direction than the wrong direction. In fact, it’s an astonishing record, 27 points swing, the most ever,” Trump added.
The president appeared to direct his statement towards Green and Democrats, going on to tout his “astonishing record” before Green continued to shout. Vice President JD Vance and Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson could then be seen rising from their seats, with Johnson pounding his gavel and giving Green a warning as he continued to persist in yelling.
“Members are directed to uphold and maintain the quorum in the House and to cease any further disruptions,” Johnson said. “That’s your warning.”

“Members are engaging in willful and continuing breach of the quorum, and the Chair is prepared to direct the sergeant at arms to restore order to the joint session. Mr. Green, take your seat,” Johnson added.
Green, however, refused to take his seat as he could be seen shaking his head no, to which Johnson ordered his removal from the chamber.
“Finding that members continue to engage in willful and concerted disruption of proper decorum, the Chair now directs the sergeant at arms to restore order,” Johnson said. “Remove this gentleman from the chamber. Members are directed to uphold and maintain the quorum in the House and to cease any further disruptions.”
Green could be seen escorted out willingly, with Republican lawmakers chanting “na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye.”
Prior to Trump’s address, Democrats had stated that they would be protesting the speech, with some bringing along former federal employees as guests and others reportedly bringing props. During an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar said viewers “shouldn’t be surprised” to see “coordinated” efforts from lawmakers to send a “message.”
Green had stated on Feb. 5 that he would be bringing articles of impeachment against Trump after the president’s announcement for the U.S. to take over the Gaza Strip in order to bring an end to the Israel-Hamas war. During Trump’s first administration, the Democrat lawmaker attempted to bring articles of impeachment against Trump at least three times but had failed.
After being kicked out, Green was seen outside the chamber telling reporters that Trump uses “incivility against our civility,” before adding that his protest is “worth it.”
The Dems have nothing so their recourse is to make a fool of themselves. So highly amusing. What a great speech by Trump and a good display of Dems stupidity. Especially not clapping for the kid that has cancer. I don’t care if freaking Bernie Sanders pays tribute to a kid with cancer, you clap for the kid who survived cancer. Golden was just as ad as the rest of his cohorts. Not an independent bone in his body, just another progressive, as bad as Pingree, King, Mills, Talbot Ross, if not worse.
