A traffic stop in South Portland and subsequent search led to the seizure of over 150 grams of fentanyl, two firearms and the arrest of a man on multiple felony charges.

South Portland Police say that officers conducted a routine traffic stop at about 1 a.m. on Sunday in the area of Gorham Road and Clarks Pond Parkway.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Michael Myrick, 47, of South Portland.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found a handgun, 159.2 grams of fentanyl, 7.2 grams of cocaine base (crack cocaine) and 12.8 grams of methamphetamine.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) classifies just 2 milligrams of fentanyl as a potentially lethal dose, meaning Myrick was found in possession of enough fentanyl to supply a lethal dose to about 80,000 people.

Myrick was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Jail.

Police subsequently obtained a search warrant for Myrick’s residence at 24 Marcelle Ave in South Portland, resulting in the seizure of additional suspected illegal drugs and a shotgun.

Myrick is charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, illegal possession of a firearm, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs and unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs — all felony level offenses.

He was arraigned on Monday, April 7, and is currently being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $20,000 cash bail.

How do you say “ Ten Years in State Prison “ without the chance of parole . . ?
Let’s clean this up and move on to more important issues . Let’s throw away the drug dealers and train some plumbers , electricians , and skilled trades people . We need to spend our tax dollars on providing a future for our children , and not feeling sorry for the low life element . These people have wasted their own lives , we haven’t done it to them , Stop spending our hard earned tax money on Narcam or whatever it’s called . Build trade schools .
