Following an investigation into a shots fired incident on Grant Street in Portland on Sunday night, city police made an arrest on Tuesday, taking 31-year-old Brandon Michael Lafler into custody.

The discharge of a firearm in the vicinity of 33 Grant St. put the urban neighborhood on edge, and according to Portland Police, members of the community came forward afterwards with useful information allowing authorities to secure a search warrant for a residence at 288 State Street.

On Tuesday morning, officers from the Portland Police’s Criminal Investigation Division paired with its Special Reaction Team executed the warrant and arrested Laffler. At that scene, they recovered a firearm and “other potential items of significance,” according to a statement by the police on Wednesday.

Lafler was charged with reckless conduct with a firearm and transported to Cumberland County Jail. No injuries were reported from Sunday’s shooting incident.

Investigators are asking anyone who has any information that might assist in this or any other case to call them at 207-874-8575. Alternatively, one may text keyword PPDME and a message to 847411.
