The Maine State Police on Wednesday released the identity of a woman found dead at a home in Lewiston earlier this week.

Shortly after 5 a.m. on Monday, Lewiston Police responded to a residence on Old Greene Road in Lewiston for a death investigation.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit also responded to the scene to investigate.

An autopsy was performed on Tuesday at the Maine Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.

Police identified the deceased as 42-year-old Melissa Donoghue of Lewiston.

Police say the cause and manner of Donoghue’s death are being withheld at this time as their investigation into the matter remains ongoing.

According to police, there is no threat to the public.

Additional information will be released when appropriate, State Police said Wednesday.
