A man from Connecticut was arrested on Saturday on multiple charges after allegedly traveling to a park in Lewiston to meet a 14-year-old girl.

Police say that they received a tip on Saturday that a 14-year-old girl was at a local park in Lewiston waiting to be picked up by a 22-year-old man from Connecticut whom she had met online.

Officers responded to the park and found both individuals.

Arrested was 22-year-old Dmitriy Marker of Connecticut.

Marker was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted sexual abuse of a minor, possession of sexually explicit material and dissemination of obscene material to a minor.

Marker was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail and is being held on $20,000 bail.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) assisted the Lewiston Police Department in the investigation.

“This case highlights the continued importance of internet safety and parental awareness regarding online interactions involving minors,” Lewiston Police said on Monday.
