Maine’s Democrat governor is touting her drug-overdose accomplishments amid growing public scrutiny on China’s invasion of the Pine Tree State.

While trying to celebrate her administration’s allegedly getting a handle on opioid overdoses, Janet Mills was being shadowed by a troublesome growth.

After all, kinda hard focusing your constituents on your drug-fighting successes when surrounded by Chinese marijuana grows.

During an opioid conference, Mills “mentioned two areas of concern: the rising use of methamphetamine, a non-opioid stimulant that has been known to cause violent behavior, and the cuts to Medicaid signed into law by President Donald Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’ that will leave people without access to substance use disorder treatment,” according to an account of the Opioid Response Summit.

A mainstream-media report of her conference cameo stated as a fact that “opioid use disorder treatment using Maine’s Medicaid program, MaineCare, is now under threat.

“The Mills administration expanded MaineCare to cover more than 31,000 people receiving treatment for substance use,” the fawning outlet reported.

“But with cuts to Medicaid because of Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill,’ Mills warned once again that Maine can’t sustain its progress in opioid use disorder treatment without federal support.”

Trump is Mills’ go-to foil when she’s trying to create distractions from her weed-infested, two-term administration.

If Mills isn’t complaining about Trump, she goes to her second salve – media bashing.

But naloxone has yet to be approved by the FDA as an acceptable antidote for either Trump Derangement Syndrome or Maine Wire Derangement Syndrome.

While Janet is at drug-abuse conferences blowing her own horn, she’s not fielding any questions about the The Maine Wire’s reporting that her administration has turned a blind eye to the Chinese mafia’s infiltration of rural Maine, or her own rebutted claims that a grand jury inquiry into whether she used cocaine in the 1990s was politically-motivated.

So, given those options what’s she to do?

Make failure a success by papering over the fact that Maine overdoses are still way up since COVID, Trump or no Trump, Chinese invasion of Maine’s marijuana market, or — what was the question again? I forgot..
