Police issued a request for assistance on Thursday, claiming that a man used a fake ID and misused identification in order to walk out of two different Sanford banks with a total of $7,000 in illicitly acquired funds.

The request for assistance comes as Maine is facing numerous recent bank robberies.

Last week, a South Carolina man was arrested in New Hampshire after allegedly robbing a bank in Westbrook.

Portland Police are still actively searching for the perpetrator or perpetrators who appeared to rob two Portland banks successfully within the span of a week.

Police did not say that the suspect in each robbery was the same person, but both suspects used the same method and appeared to be the same person based on security footage.
