At around 9:32 a.m., Portland police responded to the Bangor Savings Bank at 1071 Brighton Avenue to reports of a robbery.

Police arrived and learned that a suspect, dressed in a hoodie and wearing a mask and sunglasses, had entered the bank and successfully escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to law enforcement, the suspect is believed to have fled into a wooded area behind the bank.

Notably, no weapon was observed during the robbery, leaving unanswered questions about how the suspect was able to force bank employees to hand over cash.

The Maine State Police and the Westbrook Police Department joined Portland officers in their search for the suspect, providing K9 units.

Law enforcement and K9 units searched for several hours but did not locate the suspect.

The Portland Police Department is urging the public to call with any information on the suspect. He was described as being five feet and eight inches tall with a stocky build, and wearing a red hoodie, green pants, navy blue shoes, a mask, and sunglasses.

The official press release included low-resolution images of the alleged bank robber.
