The U.S. Marshal Service apprehended an alleged New York murderer on Tuesday after he was found riding an electric scooter in Winterport.

“You cannot outrun justice when the U.S. Marshals in Maine are on your trail. Through enhanced interagency collaboration, offenders will be found, arrested, and brought to justice. There is no safe haven,” said Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal for the District of Maine Josh Taylor.

With information from U.S. Marshals in New York, the Maine Violent Offender Task Force (MVOTF) determined that Lamont Dolberry, 52, of New York, a fugitive from murder charges in that state, had been hiding out in Maine for several months.

On Tuesday afternoon, members of the task force found Dolberry in Winterport riding an electric scooter near Cove Road.

Law enforcement took Dolberry into custody, where he currently awaits extradition to New York.

The Marshal Service thanked the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency for its assistance in the case.
