Portland has issued a full, overnight street-parking ban, due to the winter snow storm, beginning at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, effective until 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, officials announced.
Vehicles left on city streets after the 10:00 p.m. deadline may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
Residents are urged to move their vehicles as early as possible into one of the approved snow-ban parking lots. This winter, six additional lots have been added, offering over 750 extra spaces.
Designated snow-ban parking areas include:
–Dougherty Field Skate Park lot;
–Deering Oaks (on Tennis Court Road, left side only);
–Fitzpatrick Stadium (behind the Ice Arena);
–All but one of the Portland Public School lots (must vacate by 6:30 a.m.);
–The Cutter Street lots off Eastern Prom;
–Beach Street lot (after 8:00 p.m.);
–The city lot at Park & Commercial Street near the International Marine Terminal;
–Ocean Gateway parking lot;
–Several Eastern and Western Promenade/waterside and Marginal Way lots;
–Preble Street Extension (with attention to construction zones);
–State Street Extension (left side only where parking is allowed);
–Baxter Blvd along the cove, and
–Odd-side parking on St. James, Douglass, and other roads near park areas.
Snow-ban parking garages including the city-operated Elm Street and Spring Street garages will also be available at reduced rates: $3 for entry after 5:00 p.m. and exit by 8:00 a.m. the next morning.
As a reminder, the fine for failing to move a vehicle during a snow ban is $130.
