The Penobscot Sheriff’s Department started the year with a massive drug bust in Enfield on Friday that led to six arrests and charges for a seventh suspect, drug seizures, and the recovery of stolen items at a residence that had been previously raided just months earlier.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team executed a search warrant for a residence on Mohawk Road in Enfield.

During the warrant execution, deputies allegedly discovered and seized methamphetamine and made six arrests on outstanding warrants.

Deputies arrested:

  • Samuel Michaud, 56, of Enfield, on three outstanding warrants.
  • Alon Whitney, 44, of Enfield, who was out on two sets of bail conditions, on one outstanding warrant.
  • Clinton Rhoades, 47, of Enfield, who was out on three sets of bail conditions, on two outstanding warrants.
  • Kelly Slobuszewski, 43, of LaGrange, on three outstanding warrants.
  • Beau Gagnon, 34, of Lincoln, who was out on one set of bail conditions, on one outstanding warrant.
  • Benjamin Jay, 34, of Enfield, who was out on two sets of bail conditions, on two outstanding warrants.

The search also led to a charge of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs for Amie LaFountain, 34, of Mattawamkeag.

Michaud was allegedly found while trying to evade law enforcement by hiding in a crawl space, and Jay was reportedly hiding under a tarp behind a stack of tires outside the residence.

After Penobscot deputies executed their warrant, the Lincoln Police Department obtained and executed another search warrant for the property and allegedly recovered unspecified stolen property.

The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the federal Homeland Security Investigations.
