The Westbrook Police Department was busy on Wednesday, arresting a maintenance worker who allegedly stole medication and a sex offender who reportedly failed to register.

During the day, a patrol officer responded to reports from a housing complex resident who claimed that a maintenance worker keyed into her apartment and stole her medication.

The officer investigated the alleged theft and eventually applied for and received a search warrant for the residence of suspect John Bendle, 36, of South Portland.

Westbrook officers executed the search warrant and reportedly found enough evidence to take Bendle into custody and charge him with burglary and drug theft.

Later that day, a night shift officer responded to an unrelated report of suspicious activity on Brook Street.

During the investigation, the officer determined that the suspect was a sex offender who had failed to register that he was living on Brook Street.

Officers located and arrested the suspect, identified as Jason Drinon, 49, of Westbrook, and charged him with failing to register with the sex offender registry.

According to his sex offender registrant page, Drinon has been convicted of four counts of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of gross sexual assault.
