The Celtics announced Monday that star forward Jayson Tatum was being assigned to the Maine Celtics for light duty.
The Maine affiliate is known as the G League, a minor-league team where Celtic hopefuls hone their b-ball skills for what they hope will be a ticket to the big leagues.
Tatum was to be recalled to the NBA club after a practice session with the Maine affiliate.
Tatum, 27, suffered a torn achilles tendon in May during the Eastern Conference semifinals against the New York Knicks.
