Maine “Independent” U.S. Senator Who Pulled Aid From Only Mideast Democracy Suddenly Has A Conscience?

Angus King claims his conscience is forcing him to boycott President Trump’s State Of The Union Speech.

That would be the same Angus who last year said America’s only Mideast ally no longer deserves foreign aid from the U.S.

Apparently the so-called “independent” claims that label only when he’s running for election so he can avoid Democrat primary opponents.

He first did it when he ran in 1994 for governor and then when he ran in 2012 for the Senate.

King in that Senate election declared as “hogwash” allegations by some Republicans that he had cut a deal with Democrats to keep Democrat U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree out of the race – which is actually exactly what he did.

Once he won that election he declared that he would be caucusing with – you guessed it – the Democrats.

When Angus needs to keep his socialist friends funding his campaigns he becomes one of them.

When Democrats began turning on Israel last year amid the strife in Gaza, accusing Israel of creating a “humanitarian crisis,” who joined the anti-Semitic chants?

Angus King, because that’s what he had to do to mollify Democrats needing a foil for so-called pro-Palestinian fervor.

“I cannot defend the indefensible. Israel’s actions in the conduct of the war in Gaza, especially its failure to address the unimaginable humanitarian crisis now unfolding, is an affront to human decency,” King said in July. “What appears to be a deliberately-induced famine among a civilian population – including tens of thousands of starving children – can never be an acceptable military strategy.”

Now, again, Angus is claiming a guilt complex, boycotting Trump out of “conscience.”

“I cannot in good conscience participate in a function with this president,” King said. “To do so would require me to ignore all that has gone before and to pay him a measure of respect which he has not earned.”

He said last week he hadn’t decided whether to attend the State of the Union, taking a page out of another Democrat’s indecisiveness.

Now he sounds like Democrat Gov.Janet Mills who flip-flopped three times recently over whether to attend a meeting with Trump at the White House.

If Angus has such a strong “conscience” why didn’t he know last week that he was going to stiff the president?

Because he had to do a poll to find out where the money was.
