The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) arrested a New York man on Friday and seized over a pound of cocaine along with nearly $40,000 in suspected drug proceeds during a Portland raid.

The MDEA began an investigation into interstate cocaine trafficking with assistance from the South Portland Police Department.

The investigation led officers to surveil an Airbnb on Emery Street in Portland, where law enforcement observed Raymond H. Teran, 51, of the Bronx, New York.

The MDEA obtained a search warrant for the Airbnb and executed the warrant along with the Portland and South Portland Police Departments and the U.S. DEA.

During the warrant execution, police allegedly seized 500 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of cocaine base, evidence of drug trafficking and importation, and $38,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

The seized drugs had an estimated street value of $22,000.

Law enforcement arrested Teran during the raid and transported him to the Cumberland County Jail.

He was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, trafficking in Schedule W drugs, illegal importation of scheduled drugs, and falsifying physical evidence.

He was issued a $50,000 bail, and additional charges are expected to follow from the investigation.

A Raymond H. Teran whose age matches the suspect’s was arrested in Penobscot County last year for allegedly operating without a license.

It is not all of them, but it seems to be too many of them.
