The Cumberland Sheriff’s Department arrested a Massachusetts man wanted for homicide in Baldwin on Saturday after they encountered him by chance during a wellness check.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., Cumberland deputies responded to a Bridgeton Road address after callers requested a wellness check for a male in a vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they initially believed the man in the vehicle was unconscious.

The patrol sergeant who responded quickly determined that the man was Jean Michael Warner Delgado, 20, of Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Delgado is allegedly a violent wanted fugitive with an active arrest warrant for homicide.

He was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where he is currently awaiting extradition back to Massachusetts.

It is not clear from the Cumberland Sheriff’s Department press release what Delagado was doing in Baldwin.

In September, the Lawrence, Mass. Police Department issued a press release requesting public assistance in locating Delgado.

That request for assistance did not indicate that Delgado was wanted in connection with any criminal activity.
