Son And Family Of “Screaming Mary” – Notorious IRGC Mouthpiece Arrested On U.S. Soil

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has terminated green cards and lawful permanent resident status for multiple Iranian nationals living in the United States, including the son of a notorious propagandist deployed by Iran to lie during the 1979 Hostage Crisis. 

In coordination with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the individuals were arrested and detained in Los Angeles as announced Saturday morning on Rubio’s X account.

The latest measure targeted Seyed Eissa Hashemi, Maryam Tahmasebi, and their son, who entered the United States back in 2014 before obtaining permanent legal status in 2016.

Hashemi is the son of Masoumeh Ebtekar, who became known as “Screaming Mary” during the Iranian Hostage Crisis in 1979 Tehran. She got the nickname from American hostages due to her high-pitched voice presented during anti-American rants on a continual, routine basis which likely aided in torture.

Ebtekar made her stance clear, stating she was “willing to kill American hostages” in archived footage. During the captivity period, Americans were subject to beatings, starvation, solitary confinement, and psychological tactics like mock executions while Ebtekar propagated their purported humane treatment to the press.

After a thrust to stardom built on American suffering, Ebtekar embarked forward in her service holding senior positions within Iran’s regime, at one point holding the title of “lead propagandist”. 

Nonetheless, federal agents were present to arrest her son and his family this week in Los Angeles, as they will now remain in ICE custody until deportation. 

Secretary Rubio provided a public statement confirming, “Her family should never have been allowed to benefit from the extraordinary privilege of living in our country.”

He solidified his strong statements with, “America can never become home for anti-American terrorists or their families—and under the Trump Administration, it never will.”

The revocations build on related recent actions to include the termination of green cards for the niece and grandniece of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Major General Qasem Soleimani. Furthermore, legal status was plucked for Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani and her husband, the daughter of a former Iranian national security official. 

The efforts mitigate immediate security risks, but also point to the fact that Iranian nationals are residing in the United States despite confirmed ties to broader anti-American regimes.
