Bruins Coach Marco Sturm has sent a subtle message to Bruins GM Don Sweeney after the team’s crushing finals iceout.

During a news conference after Boston lost in the playoffs to Buffalo, Sturm talked about the need to get more guys ready to get in front of the net.

“One of the biggest reasons why we made it this far is our goalies,” said Sturm. “We can’t expect that every year. So that means we – as a group – we need to find ways to limit scoring.”

Scott Roche, reporter for Causeway Crowd, said there needs to be additions to the roster, “but just how Sweeney goes about it remains to be seen.”

Roche said Sturm, we just finished his first season as the B’s coach, likely will meet with Sweeney to express his need for more defensemen, “but it doesn’t hurt to get it out publicly” beforehand.
