On Sunday, Somerset deputies responded to multiple reports of vehicle break-ins across the town. Two residents also reported that the windows of their homes had been broken.

The initial investigation led deputies to believe that the break-ins were committed by minors.

On Monday, Somerset Deputy Michael Pike conducted a follow-up investigation and followed multiple leads that eventually led to five juvenile suspects, ages 13-16.

All five were arrested and charged with burglary, theft, burglary of a motor vehicle, and criminal mischief.

The case will be forwarded to thge Juvenile COmmunity Corrections Officer, and the investigation remains ongoing, with additional charges possible.

The sheriff is requesting that any other Madisons who believe their cars were burglarized come forward.

“All five were arrested and charged with burglary, theft, burglary of a motor vehicle, and criminal mischief..” Some of these charges are felonies. Were these hoodlums to be locked up for a few months before their trial, they might come out of this as different people.
