Maine Midcoast Town Cracks Down On Dog*hit, River Pollution, Banning Park Pets

Due to deteriorating water quality in the St. George River, pets are now banned from a midcoast park.

Thomaston officials have declared Mill River Park along the banks of the river off limits to dogs due to apparent pollution.

The decision to ban canines from the picturesque park follows ongoing water quality concerns in the St. George, according to Pen Bay Pilot.

Recent findings from the Maine Department of Marine Resources indicate that microbial contamination levels are approaching regulatory limits, with evidence suggesting pet waste may be contributing to water quality impacts in the area, according to a news release.

“Protecting water quality is critical to safeguarding public health, preserving the local environment, and supporting the region’s shellfish industry, which plays an important role in the local economy,” town officials said. “The closure will allow the town and state officials to continue monitoring conditions and evaluate whether improvements occur in the absence of dog-related contamination.”

Violators can be fined $50 for a first offense to $100 for each of repeat offenses.

The St. George flows about 50 miles from St. George Lake in Liberty south, forming an estuary near Thomaston.

The river then runs 12 miles southwest to Muscongus Bay, forming the border between Cushing and St. George.

Anywhere else in the world , dog owners are required to carry a little plastic poop bag , and pick up after their dog when it takes a dump .
Evidently NOT in Maine .
THAT would be too simple for Maine .
Little plastic bags “ used to be free “ at the grocery store but today they are against the law .
Nobody can afford to buy bags JUST for picking up dog shit .
WHILE WE ARE AT IT …..Let’s blame the dog owners for the decrease in soft shell clams since the river feeds muscungus bay clam flats .
What about people’s cats that are allowed outside . ?
Next the Democrats need to appoint a special investigative commission to determine if people should be allowed to even own a dog .
Maine ….Life Here Ain’t What it Used to Be .

Take a walk around Mackworth Island or the Eastern Prom and you’ll find plenty of doggie poop bags dropped by virtue signaling losers.

Another attack on dogs from the loony left. Just walking hand in hand with their 8th century, sand flee, parasitic “New Mainers”. Screw Thomaston officials and the LGBTQ+WTFE horse they rode in on.

Don’t forget to use those “one use” plastic bags provided by municipal property taxes. OR ELSE, a municipal bicycle riding “poop patrol officer” paid for by property taxes will write you a ticket while checking your vaccination card/scanning your microchipped pooch. Oh, thank the atv registration fees for your “multi use / multi municipal income generating trail system so generously granted (old train tracks) and paid for by Uncle Sam and His taxpayers.
Cheers!

Next, they insist that IF&W put diapers on the deer that sh-t in the park or be required to hire someone to scoop their poop! As fish populations increase, how will they stop the fish from pooping in the river. Get rid of all the democrats and people who move in from “away” and want to control everyone else!
