The Dover, New Hampshire, Police Department faced a grisly sight on Tuesday when they discovered two dead bodies after responding to a welfare check.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., Dover officers responded to a home on Dover Point Road to conduct a follow-up welfare check, apparently after having previously responded for a similar check.
Officers arrived and entered the home to discover the bodies of the home’s two adult residents, Eileen Shevelin, 78, and Thomas Wallace, 57.
Shevelin was discovered dead in her bed, and Wallace was found with a gunshot wound to his head.
Police investigated the incident as a potential murder-suicide, and the NH Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted autopsies on the bodies.
The autopsies determined that Shevelin had allegedly been asphyxiated, and that Wallace shot himself in the head, confirming police’s belief that Wallace murdered his mother and then killed himself.
