One of the most recognizable personalities in Boston TV news is moving on to greener pastures.

Mark Ockerbloom, veteran anchor at WFXT-TV, is leaving the station after more than two decades.

The Mass native, affectionately known by viewers as “Ock,” said he will be spending more time with his family following a 40-year career in broadcast journalism, the Patriot Ledger reported.

“As a kid who grew up in Winchester, it was the thrill of a lifetime to get to work in my home market,” Ockerbloom said in a statement.”I want to thank all of the talented people I’ve had the privilege of working with day in and day out. I’d also like to acknowledge and thank my many viewers who always trusted me to bring them accurate information.”

Before joining WFXT-TV, Ockerbloom anchored evening sportscasts and co-hosted a nightly sports show at NECN.

Prior to moving back to Massachusetts, he worked at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City and WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H.
