Over the past several months, the MDEA, Belfast Police Department, and Waldo Sheriff’s Department have been receiving information alleging that Larry Metcalf, 80, of Swanville, has been transporting out-of-state traffickers to various residences to sell drugs.
On Wednesday, MDEA agents received information that Metcalf was going to pick someone up at the Belfast bus station.
Agents surveilled the station and saw Metcalf’s arrival before watching a man get off a bus from Massachusetts and enter his car.
Law enforcement then conducted a traffic stop on Metcalf’s vehicle.
During the stop, a K-9 allegedly confirmed the presence of drugs, and law enforcement searched the vehicle and its occupants.
Law enforcement allegedly discovered 55 grams of Fentanyl and 250 grams of cocaine in the possession of the passenger, identified as Eduin Chala-Ramirez, 21, of Boston.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $29,100.
Agents arrested Chala-Ramirez and transported him to the Waldo County Jail, where he was issued a $25,000 bail.
Metcalf was issued a summons to appear in court on August 5 but was not arrested.
More arrests are expected to follow as part of the investigation.
