At approximately 3:55 a.m., a woman and her dog ran into the Bangor Police Station and told officers that she and the dog were being chased.
Shortly after she got inside, officers entered the lobby, and a man came in behind the woman.
Officer Emily Konopka ordered the man, identified as David Vieira, 45, homeless, to leave the building.
After the man and woman were separated, officers interviewed both separately.
Officers allegedly learned that the two had been living in the woman’s car and that the man was threatening to light it on fire with the dog inside.
The woman said that he poured gasoline over the vehicle but explained that she was able to free the dog and flee before he could light the fire.
Officers located the vehicle and allegedly found that a nearby gas can had been poured over the vehicle and located a lighter on Vieira.
Vieira was arrested and charged with domestic violence criminal threatening and transported to the Penobscot County Jail.
