Maine House candidate Austin Theriault (R) announced Thursday the launch of the People Over Politics PAC, a new leadership political action committee aimed at helping elect Republican candidates to the Maine House of Representatives.
According to the campaign, the PAC has already secured more than $200,000 in fundraising commitments within a matter of weeks and will focus on supporting Republican House candidates across the state. The effort is intended to help GOP candidates who have historically been outspent in legislative races as Republicans seek to win control of the Maine House.
The PAC will be chaired by Peter Prescott, president of E.J. Prescott and a longtime Maine business leader.
“It’s my pleasure to continue working with Austin to make Maine a better place,” Prescott said. “I encourage everyone who cares about the future of this state to join in our efforts. Maine needs a turnaround and Austin is the right leader to help get the job done.”
Theriault, a former NASCAR driver, small business owner, former member of the Maine House of Representatives, and former congressional candidate, will lead the PAC’s efforts.
In announcing the organization, Theriault said the PAC is focused on supporting working Mainers and advancing Republican candidates for the Legislature.
“I’m grateful to all our supporters who want to help me put People Over Politics,” Theriault said. “Regular working Mainers can’t afford a house, aren’t seeing any economic growth, and are being hurt every day by out-of-touch political insiders. This new effort will fight to give a voice to our friends and neighbors who are getting the short end of the stick because of bad left-wing policies. I encourage everyone who wants to see positive change in Maine to support our effort.”
The People Over Politics PAC is expected to play a role in supporting Republican House candidates during the upcoming election cycle as the party works to flip control of the Maine House.

Thank you Austin for finally putting republicans back in the picture and possibly have our voices heard once again. Can we ban men in women’s sports, a common sense decision a majority of mainers agree on?
Is burning down a condemnable building involved in a recent business purchase to force insurance to build a new facility considered fraud? Arson? Seems to happen alot now in Northern Maine. Are property owners taking a hint from all of the loggers who burn old machines for the insurance settlement? Why doesn’t the Fire Marshalls office ever find the blatant evidence of arson? Are they complicit? Just asking for a friend…
And if this works, it’s suppose to fix ???? Again, no specifics. How in hell am I going to support something with no defined goals and no targeted agenda items. Just what we need another PAC with no Republican focused agenda. Outline what your planning on targeting, fixing or eliminating to make this place worth living in. Maine is circling the drain and a PACMAN isn’t going to fix it.
thanks AT for running with CHARLES and LEPAGE things could change for the better
