The Westbrook Police Department arrested two alleged drug traffickers on Thursday following a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) investigation into a hotel on the Westbrook-Portland town line.
MDEA began their investigation into the hotel on Thursday after members of the public informed them of alleged drug trafficking from the location.
Agents coordinated with the Westbrook Police and the Portland Police Department Crime Reduction Unit.
While they surveilled the hotel, law enforcement spotted two individuals entering a vehicle and leaving.
Westbrook Police then stopped the vehicle on Larrabee Road in Westbrook.
During the stop, police allegedly spotted several suspicious items in plain view and initiated a search with assistance from the MDEA.
The search allegedly revealed 363 grams of cocaine base, $20,000 of suspected drug proceeds, and other items related to drug trafficking.
According to the MDEA, cocaine base typically sells for between $80-$120 per gram.
Police arrested the vehicle’s two occupants, Amanuel A. Sentayehu, 29, of Westbrook, and Aria A. Pomerleau, 30, of Bridgton, and transported them to the Cumberland County Jail.
Sentayehu was charged with aggravated trafficking in Scheduled W drugs, and was issued a $15,000 bail.

Pomerleau was charged with aggravated trafficking in Scheduled W drugs, and falsifying physical evidence and was charged in relation to two outstanding arrest warrants for failure to appear. She was issued a $25,000 bail.
