WASHINGTON – The conflict involving the United States, Iran and Israel has entered a dangerous new phase after a weekend breakdown of the fragile ceasefire that had been in place since early April, setting off a chain of direct military confrontations across the Middle East.
The latest escalation was compounded by direct fighting between the United States and Iran, as well as renewed hostilities between Israel and Iran, raising concerns that the regiomay be sliding toward a broader war despite President Donald Trump’s continued push for a diplomatic resolution.

The U.S. military launched strikes against Iranian military targets after a U.S. Army Apache helicopter was shot down near the Strait of Hormuz, according to the latest developments. Iran retaliated by targeting U.S. bases in the Gulf region, with intercepted missile strikes reported in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait.

At the same time, the fragile truce between Israel and Iran collapsed after Israel carried out strikes in Beirut, Lebanon. Iran responded by launching ballistic missiles at Israel, prompting Israeli forces to strike air defense systems and a petrochemical plant in Tehran.
Iran then struck back at Israeli airbases and petrochemical facilities, further intensifying a conflict that had already tested the limits of regional stability.
Trump has publicly called for all sides to immediately stop shooting, while also privately warning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to proceed carefully or risk leaving Israel to fight “on its own.”
Despite the widening conflict, Trump has maintained that a final, comprehensive peace deal with Iran remains in its “final throes,” even as military action continues to spread across the region.
The instability has also drawn in Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who announced a ban on Israeli vessels in Red Sea shipping lanes and claimed a missile strike on Israel. Meanwhile, the U.S. naval and maritime blockade on Iran remains fully active.
The flare-up has exposed a growing divide between Washington and Jerusalem over how far the conflict should go.
Trump is seeking to wind down the fighting, stabilize global gas prices and secure a diplomatic agreement with Iran. Netanyahu and his cabinet, however, remain under intense political pressure to cripple Hezbollah and neutralize Iranian threats after the collapse of the ceasefire.
The result is a rapidly shifting and increasingly volatile conflict, with the United States pressing for a deal while Israel continues to pursue military objectives against Iran and its regional proxies.

Let’s get this over with !
