Janice Dean: ‘Fox Betrayed Me, Told Me To Shut Up And Do The Weather’

Just weeks after retiring as the legendary bubbly Fox News weather gal, Janice Dean is settling a bitter score.

Dean reveals on X that her bosses gagged her after she continually criticized New York Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

While at Fox, the widely popular forecaster spent a lot of air time blasting Cuomo for his disastrous management of the COVID pandemic.

When she wasn’t talking about the weather forecast, she was accusing Cuomo of killing thousands of seniors – including her in-laws.

“Someday I’ll tell you all the story of how I was banned from talking about Andrew Cuomo after I spent years speaking out about what he did to seniors during COVID,” she posted earlier this week on X.

“Were you told something along the lines of “shut up and do the weather?’” one of her X followers asked.

“Yes,” Dean replied.

“I felt very betrayed during this time, and admittedly I’m still bitter,” she added. “When you share something so personal with the world, and are encouraged to talk about it for years, and then one day be told you can’t, that hurt does not just magically go away.”

Cuomo six years ago directed nursing homes to accept recovering COVID patients discharged from hospitals, as long as the facilities could properly isolate them.

But critics – one of the loudest being Janice Dean – argue this policy recklessly introduced the virus to, and killed, thousands of vulnerable seniors.

Dean’s father-in-law and mother-in-law, each a resident of an assisted living facility or nursing home in New York, died due to complications of COVID-19.

In the aftermath, she attributed both deaths to a state advisory that required admissions and readmissions of assisted living and nursing home residents without virus testing and became an outspoken high-profile critic of Cuomo and the lack of media coverage about the policy.

Dean criticized CNN, Good Morning America, and People Magazine; for doing “puff pieces” on Cuomo’s actions relative to the pandemic that did not touch on the nursing home subject.

She specifically noted the behavior of both Cuomo and his CNN anchor brother Chris regarding his appearances on Chris’ CNN show, describing it as “an insensitive, giggling interview.”

Cuomo has consistently claimed that he issued the COVID directive to prevent hospitals from becoming overwhelmed and that it followed federal guidelines.

His administration insisted that the virus primarily spread into nursing homes through infected staff and community transmission, rather than from hospital transfers.

Dean, 56, officially retired after more than two decades with Fox last month as she continues to battle multiple sclerosis, having taken time off to attend to her health late last year.

After Cuomo popped up Tuesday as a guest on the Fox net, Dean bitterly tweeted, “Glad I’m not there.”

Cuomo resigned in disgrace five years ago amid a sexual-harassment scandal and he later failed in a New York City mayoral bid.
