Womanizing Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel’s job is apparently safe.
The team’s owner, appearing on First Take Friday, spoke for the first time on the scandalous affair the married Vrabel had with an NFL reporter.
“We’re privileged to have Mike as our head coach,” Robert Kraft said, according to NBC Sports. “You know, no one is infallible.”
Kraft’s option of course was to deny that Mike had a tryst with the also-married Dianna Russini, despite steamy photos of the two published earlier this year in the New York Post.
But Kraft is apparently standing by his man, who only half-heartedly denied the affair once he realized the gig was up – gig being finally admitting “I had difficult conversations with my wife.”
“What’s great about Mike is he has great intellectual knowledge about football, all the technical skills,” Kraft said, per NBC Sports. “He relates to the players beautifully. And he’s someone I have a strong belief and faith in.
“And I hope he’s going to be our head coach for many years to come.”
“With that cleared up,” says Xavier Alexander of 98.5 The Sports Hub, “the Patriots now set their sights on training camp, which starts for the Patriots in just four days on Friday, July 24. It is time for the team to get back to work as they look to recreate their miraculous season just a year ago.”
