The investigation began on April 3 when the department’s Criminal Investigation Division received a report alleging that Douglas Moody, 25, of Corinna, had sexually exploited a child.
The department learned during the investigation that Moody was on probation and was on the Maine Sex Offender Registry following a 2024 child sexual exploitation conviction.
The investigation also led deputies to identify other alleged victims across the country of sexual exploitation that reportedly took place over the course of several months.
On June 30, deputies charged Moody with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of possession of sexually explicit material.
According to his sex offender registration page, he is a Tier II 25-year registrant following a conviction for possession of sexually explicit material of a child under the age of 12.
