BOWDOIN, Maine— The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an apparent attempted arson after someone allegedly broke into an abandoned mobile home in Bowdoin and tried to set it on fire.
According to investigators, the incident occurred at 243 John Tarr Road sometime between Sunday, July 19, and Saturday, July 25, 2026. The property owner discovered the break-in and apparent fire-setting attempt on Saturday before notifying authorities.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene on July 25 and determined that while the fire caused only minor damage, the case remains an active criminal investigation.
Investigators are now asking for the public’s assistance as they work to identify the person or people responsible.
