Maine State Police are assisting the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with an investigation after a woman was shot during a child pickup on Jobie Road in Avon.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call on July 24 from a man who reported that his mother had been shot while he was attempting to pick up his children from members of his ex-wife’s family, according to police.
The man drove away from the scene and eventually stopped near 420 Avon Road, where he met responding law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel.
The woman was transported by LifeFlight of Maine to a hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries. Authorities did not immediately release her condition or identify anyone involved in the shooting.
Police said all parties involved are cooperating with investigators and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South is assisting the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation. No charges have been announced, and additional details were not immediately available.
