The Sagadahoc Sheriff’s Department arrested a Dresden man last month after he allegedly pulled a gun and assaulted a man with it during a road rage incident in Woolwich last month.

The incident allegedly took place on July 23, but the department did not issue its release until Wednesday.

On the morning of July 23, the Sagadahoc Communications Center received a call from a Woolwich driver reporting that he had been assaulted on Old Stage Road in Woolwich.

The victim informed law enforcement that a vehicle began tailgating him before eventually cutting him off and stopping in the road.

The victim then also stopped, and both drivers exited their vehicles. The victim allegedly tried to take a picture of the suspect and his vehicle.

The suspect then allegedly drew his handgun and aimed it at the victim while demanding that he hand over his phone.

He then reportedly chased the victim and struck him in the head with the gun before firing a shot that did not hit the victim.

Following the gunshot, the suspect allegedly fled the scene and the victim called law enforcement.

Sagadahoc deputies met with the victim at the scene and received a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle.

Investigators recovered a nylon handgun holster and a spent 9mm shell casing from the scene.

Deputies canvassed the area in search of witnesses and security camera footage. Their efforts were successful and they allegedly discovered footage showing the suspect and his vehicle.

A Sagadahoc sketch artist from the department met with the victim to create a sketch of the suspect.

The Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) assisted in the investigation to narrow down the list of possible suspects, from which deputies located the vehicle involved.

The suspect was identified as Jamie Kramer of Dresden. After his license photo was compared with footage and the forensic sketch, deputies executed a search warrant at Kramer’s residence and seized evidence related to the alleged assault.

Kramer was arrested without incident and charged with aggravated assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

He was transported to the Two Bridges Regional Jail and issued a $1,000 bail.

It is not clear from the Sagadahoc Sheriff’s Department whether the arrest took place on the same day as the alleged assault.
