A Gardiner woman was killed in Randolph on Friday in a head-on crash that also left two others with serious injuries.

At approximately 2:12 p.m., the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of 76 Water Street following a report of a head-on crash.

Dispatch advised deputies that all parties remained trapped inside their vehicles.

Gardiner Fire and Rescue worked to extricate people from the two involved vehicles, a 2013 Nissan Versa operated by Debra Alexander, 62, of Gardiner, and a 2024 Buick Encore operated by Marion Porter of China.

Troy Simonds, 18, of Gardiner, was a passenger in the Nissan.

After extracting the crash victims, emergency responders administered lifesaving measures to Alexander but were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead on scene.

Simonds was transported to Maine Medical Center with severe injuries, and Porter was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.

The road remained closed until 3:58 p.m.

Based on a preliminary investigation, the Kennebec Sheriff’s Department believes that Alexander’s vehicle was traveling northbound on Water Street when she drifted into the southbound lane and struck Porter’s car.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, and anyone with camera footage of the incident is urged to reach out to the Kennebec Sheriff’s Department.
