The arrest of a robbery suspect in Portland on Friday accused of stealing from a man during a firearm sale led officers to discover a Connecticut man allegedly dealing drugs in the city.

The situation began on July 24, when a man reported that he had been robbed and assaulted while attempting to sell a firearm. The firearm was also allegedly stolen during the incident.

That investigation led the Portland Police Department to identify a suspect and establish surveillance.

On Friday, detectives with the Portland Police Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Mellen and Congress Streets.

During the stop, officers identified a passenger as Dominic Moncada-Sanchez, 21, of Portland, who was wanted on an arrest warrant related to the robbery.

He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail, and the stolen firearm was recovered.

That evening, the Portland Police Special Reaction Team executed a high-risk warrant at Moncada-Sanchez’s home.

During the warrant execution, officers located Jorge Ramirez, 38, of Hartford, Connecticut, and allegedly seized $3,700 in cash, digital scales, cutting agents, and packaging materials consistent with drug distribution.

Ramirez was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
