A group of Maine “whale watchers” got a much-more dramatic watch than they bargained for.
And it weren’t no whale.
Ellie Crane had her camera rolling aboard a boat off the Bar Harbor coast when a massive great white shark came into frame.
The next thing that happened is jaws made an instant grab for dinner – a harbor seal innocently swimming nearby.
As a brief struggle ensued, it was over almost before it began, as blood gushed from the seal’s mortal wound, coloring the surrounding water red.
“Oh my goodness, oh my god,” a woman aboard the Miss Samantha can be heard repeatedly exclaiming.
The shocking scene near Egg Rock Lighthouse off Bar Harbor was reported by Chris Popper of i95rocks.com.
Crane was aboard Bar Harbor Whale Watch Company’s boat when she recorded the breathtaking footage.
