gen207AUGUSTA – The Maine GOP announced Thursday a new youth outreach effort designed to showcase and promote “young rising stars” in the Republican Party.

Executive Director of the Maine Republican Party Jason Savage said the initiative, spearheaded by Republican National Committeewoman Ashley Ryan, reflects a broader focus on creating opportunity for the next generation.

“#GEN207 will accomplish many important tasks from training and supporting young Republican activists and candidates, to providing an outlet for young people across the state to make their thoughts and ideas heard,” said Ryan, who is the youngest person ever elected to the RNC.

“It is critical that the Maine GOP encompasses and encourages young people, embraces the new energy in our party, and works to protect the American Dream for my generation.”

Maine Republican Party Chairman Rick Bennett believes that #GEN207 will help grow the party.

“This initiative will rejuvenate our party by empowering our youngest members.” said Bennett. “It’s clear that young people are looking for a way to take control of  their own destiny and future prosperity, and #GEN207 will be one means of doing that.”

#GEN207 will include a statewide outreach tour, internship opportunities, a robust social media presence, a dedicated website, and much more, said Savage.
