The Maine Heritage Policy Center is sitting down for detailed policy discussions with the gubernatorial candidates running to replace Governor Paul LePage. Mary Mayhew was the first candidate to speak with us, and you can watch our discussion with her below.

In the coming days, we will be releasing more interviews with candidates running in both the Republican and Democratic primaries, as well as independent candidates for governor.

Our goal is simple: to provide the people of Maine with an opportunity to hear from the candidates, unedited and in their own words, talking about the policy issues that they will have to confront if they become the next governor of Maine.

MHPC is focusing entirely on policy, and rather than being constrained by two minute answers in a debate setting, it is our hope that a longer, open conversation about the issues will allow for a greater understanding of each candidate’s view of the Maine policy landscape.
