President Joe Biden met Wednesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy as Congress prepares to pass a $1.7 trillion omnibus spending package the will provide $47 billion to the country.
The U.S. has already provided military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine totaling $50.47 billion, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a German think tank that has been tracking foreign aid to the country since the beginning of the country’s war with Russia.
In November, the Biden administration requested an additional $37 billion for Ukraine, and the new proposal exceeds that mark by $10 billion.
