Portland’s Arts and Technology and Casco Bay High Schools were put on lockdown Monday afternoon over alleged threatening comments made by a student.

Portland Police were called to the school shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday, and were informed that a student had made threatening comments to Casco Bay High School online during the afternoon.

The schools were put on lockdown until Portland Police arrived and ensured the students were safe.

The lockdown was lifted and the school went back to normal operations at approximately 2:43 p.m.

According to Portland Police, while the school was on lockdown, other officers responded to the Riverton neighborhood and took a juvenile male into custody.

The juvenile has been charged with Terrorizing and was transported to Longcreek Youth Development Center.
