Global Warming Will Send Thousands of Migrants to Maine, Claims Portland’s Sustainability Director [VIDEO]

Maine Gov. Janet Mills has proposed creating an “Office of New Americans” to bring 75,000 low-skill workers to Maine, but a new dire warning from the City of Portland’s Sustainability Director suggests the new office may be unnecessary.

That’s because rising temperatures caused by global climate change will lead thousands of migrants from developing countries to relocate to Maine without additional incentives and recruitment efforts.

City of Portland Sustainability Director Troy Moon says that climate change could drive additional refugees from Africa, Asia and Central America to migrate to Portland.

Moon described the phenomena in his “Resilience and Climate Vulnerability” presentation to the Portland Sustainability and Transportation Committee during their Wednesday, Feb. 14 meeting.

“And another thing about climate change is the impacts are not distributed equally around the world,” Moon told the Committee. “There are parts of the world now that are already facing extreme impacts of climate change, and research is kind of identifying where those places are.”

Moon, who graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a BA in English and Art History, has worked as a city of Portland employee since 2003, according to his LinkedIn.

The Sustainability Director pointed to a graphic from a 2022 study showing that the regions of central Africa, Southeast Asia, and central America are more vulnerable to the purported impacts of climate change, which include heat, sea-level rise and flooding.

Moon said that those regions are “heavily impacted” by climate change, and that people living in those regions “may not be able to stay put as climate change impacts become more pronounced.”

The city’s Sustainability Director referenced a study by World Bank that anticipates 86 million “climate refugees” from sub-Saharan Africa, 40 million from South Asia, and 17 million from Latin America by 2050.

“They [World Bank] expect millions of people to be on the move based on not being able to stay put because of heat, or flooding or other impacts,” Moon said.

Moon also referenced a 2017 Portland Press Herald article entitled “Climate refugees could see safety in Maine.“

The Press Herald quotes Dr. Paul Mayewski, director of the University of Maine’s Climate Change Institute, as predicting “The population of Maine will increase dramatically in the next 20 years.”

“I truly believe that,” Dr. Mayewski told the outlet.

“Our climate scientists in Maine — Dr. [Paul] Mayewski is the director of the Climate Change Institute — has done some research, and certainly expects that refugees can certainly come and seek safety in Maine, where we do have our challenges from climate change, but they are much less pronounced than they are in some parts of the world,” Moon said.

“So we spend some time thinking about how additional climate refugees could come to Portland in the future,” Moon added.

Much of Moon’s Wednesday presentation was centered around the recent severe storms in Maine which caused extreme flooding in Portland, and how the city can build more resilient infrastructure.

Moon also said heat is a “huge issue,” and that he anticipates Maine will have “a great many more 90 degree-plus days as we approach the end of the [21st] century.”

The City of Portland recently received a $364,000 to extend its migrant Resettle Program for 12 months.

Since January 2020, the city’s Resettlement Program has provided services to an estimated 4,200 migrants.

Climate refugees? These are the actual refugees/illegals we can expect to migrate here with the help of Leftist NGOs:: https://barenakedislam.com/2024/02/14/so-you-think-its-mostly-mexicans-and-south-americans-who-are-invading-our-southern-border/

Troy Moon reminds me of Fani Willis except he’s not even a box checker (female & black). But, he is another totally incompetent, political appointment who is in a taxpayer funded position solely to push an agenda driven hoax, not the facts. I’d love to see him debate Professor David Dilley who is a real meteorologist with dozens of years of experience who wasn’t an English/Art History major.

According to the same “experts” Miami was supposed underwater last year. The only disasters we need to stop are the ones cause by Maine’s crooked politicians.

Interesting how climate change will adversely affect 3rd world countries the most. Perhaps it is the poor culture that is the issue NOT the climate.

Obviously part of Mills brain trust.

No, the Dems are sending them to Maine and blaming it on the global warming bs because the Russia Russia Russia narrative didn’t fit well.

This fiasco will never happen if we build solid walls on our borders. And post military or other armed security forces there with authority to use deadly force on any “invaders” who try to climb over or under it. We need to get serious about this folks. The American communist party (democrats and GOPe, who ALL feed at the globalist trough!) have authorized and supported this invasion. We need to remove these brainless imbeciles from positions of power and replace them with good honorable people who know how to think rationally about things. While we still have a chance to save our country from evil.
